On a Saturday in June 2195 (Long Eaton) Squadron Air Cadets went flying at RAF Cranwell. Cadet Sergeant Craig Harrison, Cadet Corporal Catherine McHale and Cadets Lucy Scott, Max Pierrpont, Luke Fisher, Joan Fowodu and Kira Beadle all went to Cranwell joined by cadets from 348 (Ilkeston) Squadron.
After watching the safety video a select four cadets went to fly high, then the following four went to put their flying suits on, helmets and parachute and went for their flight and so on until all cadets had flown.
For a few of the cadets it was their first time flying some were lucky enough to do aerobatics which consisted in loop the loops, aileron rolls, stall turns and barrel rolls some of the cadets from both squadrons were allowed to control the aircraft.
Cadet Corporal McHale says “I enjoyed my very first flight today and being able to control the aircraft for a loop the loop was amazing. I experienced 0 gravity and G force which I really enjoyed. All the cadets got along from both Squadrons and there were many laughs to be had, I have met some very nice people today and hope to go again on the next chance I may get.”
