South & East Midlands Wing took the opportunity of it’s All Ranks Wing Dinner Dance to say a fond Farewell to it’s Wing Executive Officer Squadron Leader John Hill MBE RAFR.
Having joined the Wing in 2005, he has shown an incredible level of support to the staff, cadets, Squadrons, Wing, Region and Corps and will be truly missed.
The event boasted a full house at The Link Hotel, Loughborough for the event with and excleent 3 course meal and Big Bopper Entertainment on hand for the entertainment at the end of the evening.
Wing Commander N Dickinson OBE RAFVR (T) said “Thank you to everyone involved in making the night so special for Sqn Ldr John Hill. We haven’t had a Wing Dinner Dance for a while now but it seemed a fitting way for everyone around the Wing to say thank you to John for everything he has done to support our Wing over the last 10 years and we were not disappointed. Everything came together on the night to make it a special evening that we will remember for some time. A true South and East Midlands celebration for us all and a great way to mark John’s time with us.”
Squadron Leader Hill received a standing ovation and went to make a moving speech and after the event said “It was an honour and a privilege to attend the South and East Midlands Wing Dinner Dance as their Guest of Honour. I could not think of a more fitting and wonderful way to end my 10 years with the Wing and the evening will stay in my memory for years to come. I received so many genuinely kind and supportive comments from members of the Wing that I was somewhat overwhelmed with their generosity – everyone of them will stay in my thoughts for years to come – thank you everyone”
