‘Sporting success for 1109 Squadron’

It was a successful day for 1109 (Thetford) Squadron on Sunday 22nd March 2015 as they were awarded the Hunt Cup for the best sporting squadron within Norfolk and Suffolk Wing for 2014 – 2015.

This was the first time 1109 squadron have picked up the award and highlights the cadet’s hard work and commitment to sport during the last 12 months.

Civilian Instructor Daniel Cooper, Squadron Sports Officer said ‘I am delighted the cadet’s performances and efforts have been recognised in this way’.

A variety of events contribute towards winning the Hunt Cup including attendance at Wing sports trials, swimming proficiency awards and overall performances at inter squadron activities including athletics, swimming, cross country and six-a-side football.
Commanding Officer, Flight Lieutenant Sam Chapman-Allen said ‘We have made tremendous strides in the last 18 months across a wide range of sports, it is now down to the cadets to keep this momentum going’.

The next competition for the squadron is the Air Cadet Sportivate Cup touch rugby finals day on Sunday 10th May 2015.
