644 VGS & 617 AGS at RAF Coningsby’s Families’ Day

Cadets from 1803 (Hucknall), 1359 (Beeston) and 2159 (Long Eaton) Squadrons joined staff from 644 VGS (Syerston) and 617 AGS (Wittering) at RAF Coningsby’s Families’ Day.

They explored the event stalls, discovering more about working at BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, the BBMF flight team and Leonardo, to name a few. They also enjoyed meeting members of the public – and even got to hold two very tame pythons!

Our adult staff were busy chatting with visitors, sharing insights about gliding at the VGS and giving them the chance to sit in the cockpit of a vintage former Air Cadet motor glider. It was a great opportunity to showcase what we do and inspire future cadets.

To round off the day, everyone enjoyed an impressive flying display featuring the Red Arrows, a Strikemaster, a Typhoon and a visiting Vampire from Norway – a fitting finale to an unforgettable event.
