Nuneaton based Air Cadets, Supermarket staff and customers have all backed the 2017 Red Nose Day appeal which saw the kind-hearted Air Cadets running a Mega Tasty Chocolate Tombola in Sainsbury’s
Employees at the Nuneaton branch of Sainsbury’s have been backing this year’s Red Nose appeal with a range of fundraising activities and had asked the Royal Air Force Air Cadets from 121 (Nuneaton) Squadron to come into the store to help with the collection.
So in a bid to come up with a fun way of raising money within the busy Supermarket, the cadets thought they needed to do something a little bit different and that’s when the Sainsbury’s staff came up with the idea of getting customers to donate to the appeal by tempting them to have a go on a Chocolate Tombola
Come Saturday morning the Air Cadets were all raring to go and thanks to the outstanding kindness of the Nuneaton Sainsbury’s staff who donated all manner of scrumptious confectionary and the generosity of the customers, the Air Cadets managed to raise an outstanding collection of £538 in aide of the Red Nose Day appeal
Kath Moreton, spokesperson for the Nuneaton Sainsbury’s store said, “We are so glad that the Nuneaton Air Cadets have given up their time to come into the store and help to collect for Red Nose Day. I think it’s so good for people to see the youngsters both having fun and doing their bit to help to boost our collection. They did an excellent job and I would take this opportunity to thank them all”
Flight Lieutenant Paul Hincks, officer commanding 121 (Nuneaton) Squadron added, “Nuneaton based Air Cadets and members of our civilian committee answered the call to do something very tasty for Money in aid of Red Nose Day. I don’t think I have ever seen so much Chocolate in one place and not been able to eat any of it”.
“Determined to do their bit to help raise money for those less fortunate than themselves, our cadets and staff donned some massive Red Noses and helped to raise £538 and that’s an effort they can be justly proud of, simply their way of showing that they care.”
