Wellingborough Air Cadet Soars to New Heights

Cadets and staff gathered together this week to celebrate as Macauley Tinston, 19, of 378 (Mannock) Squadron, Air Training Corps, was promoted to Cadet Warrant Officer. This achievement comes in the same month as he marks seven years at the Squadron.
The role of Cadet Warrant Officer is a prestigious one and comes with the highest level of responsibility a young person can achieve as a cadet. The promotion means that Macauley will now take on a more active role in helping to run the Squadron in addition to supporting the junior cadets.
The promotion was the result of many years hard work and followed a gruelling interview process. Macauley was handed his new rank badges by Wing Commander Nigel Dickinson OBE, South and East Midlands Wing ‘s Officer Commanding.
Macauley said: “I feel truly honoured to be promoted to Cadet Warrant Officer and am proud to be representing the Air Cadets at a more senior level. I have thoroughly enjoyed the last seven years at 378 and am really looking forward to developing my leadership skills and supporting the cadets further.”
The promotion is yet another feather in Macauley’s cap after he was selected to be, and spent the last year as, Lord Lieutenant’s cadet for Northamptonshire. A role which has seen him travel across the county attending events and meeting members of the Royal Family.
The Squadron’s Commanding Officer, Flight Lieutenant Mike Stock, said: “Cadet Warrant Officer Tinston is one of our longest serving cadets and we are delighted to see him honoured for his hard work and dedication. His achievements are down to his tremendous commitment and he is a real asset to the Squadron.”
