The modelling team at local RAF Air Cadet unit 195 Squadron were this week celebrating after a generous donation from a member of the public.
Karl Holmes donated an Airfix 1/48 scale Avro Vulcan model to the local Squadron after speaking with one of their cadets.
Mr Holmes said: “ I’ve had a look at it, but not really had the time to tackle it, and thought that these cadets could put it to good use.
“There’s been a lot of interest in the Vulcan lately so I mentioned the model to a friend’s daughter, who happens to be a cadet. The rest is history.”
Flight Lieutenant Terance Shird, Officer Commanding 195 Squadron, accepted the donation on behalf of the Squadron, and said: “We’re really grateful to Mr Holmes for this wonderful kit – our modelling team are really proficient and love a challenge, so I know they’ll be eager to crack on with this.”
“Once they’ve finished putting it together, we will put the model to good use as part of a Vulcan project for the cadets, exploring the history of this iconic aircraft.”
