In the shadow of the Cathedral of Bury St Edmunds, RAF Air Cadets from 301 (Bury St Edmunds) Squadron along with 863 (Thurston) Squadron marched in memory of “the few”.
Sunday 20th September saw people from across the country take to the streets to cheer, remember and reflect upon the sacrifice made by the airman of the RAF and its allies during the fiercest aerial conflict ever seen.
Around 30 cadets paraded from the Abbey Gardens to St Marys Church on Honey Hill following the Banner of 301 Squadron. Every year they have the honour of being led by the various members of the RAF and other military associations. It is a great show of how the nations young follow in the footsteps of those that have served before us, whether that be in the military or through other civilian roles.
After a church service in the church the parade returns to the Abbey Gardens but not before the salute is taken by Group Captain MJ Smeath, Station Commander of Royal Air Force Honington, who had a number of personal on parade. 301 Squadron. every year, have the honour of being led by the various members of the RAF and other military associations.
