It’s a fond farewell to Sergeant (ATC) Fred Clee.
Fred joined 1461 (Wigston) Squadron, Royal Air Force Air Cadets, back in 2012 as a civilian instructor having been a cadet previously with Warwick and Birmingham Wing.
He soon made the transition to a uniformed member of staff, taking on a Sergeant’s role and navigated his way along a career path that took him out in to the great outdoors becoming a qualified Basic Expedition Leader.
Fred has been able to enthuse the cadets with his passion for the Duke of Edinburgh awards in the last 18 months, meaning that the cadets are on track to gain bronze, silver and gold awards this year!
Fred has taken a promotion in his civilian occupation with John Lewis, taking him back to his Birmingham roots at their new flagship store. Fred will be transferring to another unit closer to his new home.
Flt Lt Tim Hargraves, Officer Commanding 1461 Squadron said, ‘ enthusiasm and commitment is what makes a volunteer, and Fred has both in abundance. We wish him well and I have a sneaky suspicion that we haven’t seen the last of him!’
Good luck Fred you will be missed!
