After a hard few months of training leading up to the biggest competitions of the year, Wigston squadron spent their weekend at Bosworth Water Trust camping out and trying out the different water sports available.
The Friday night saw cadets arrive and set up their tents for the weekend, with 30 cadets and staff it took a little organisation and teamwork to ensure everybody had their own home for the stay.
The Saturday saw the arrival of a few more staff and senior cadets, as everybody got kitted out for the four different water sports they were about to try out. Having done windsurfing, sailing, kayaking and raft building after the 5 hours in the water it was safe to say cadets were tired…and hungry!
As part of the celebrations Wigston had a squadron barbecue and it gave both staff and cadets a chance to relax and socialise! As the evening got darker and drew to a close cadets got ready for the next day and a night of heavy showers!
As Sunday came around cadets got ready to hit the lake again, this time for bell boating! Of course it seemed necessary to have an NCO team and two cadets teams, ready to compete in little challenges and races! With the NCO team winning majority, cadets got there chance for revenge with lots of buckets of water and lots of wet NCOs. After finishing the final activity, and beginning to take the tents down, it was clear it had been another cracking weekend at Bosworth!
“It’s such a nice way to celebrate all our hard work and get to socialise and chill out in a way we don’t do on an a average parade night, not forgetting all the cool stuff we get to do!” Said Flt Sgt Sur
Cadets look forward to another year of hard work and next years cam
