Cadet Warrant Officer Alice Southall of 126 (City of Derby) Squadron has returned from her week long tour with the National Rifle Association (NRA) to the Channel Islands.
This year’s NRA Team had a broad spread of experience and covering every decade from teenager and beyond. Each member took part in the individual competitions but the highlight of the tour was the competitive team matches against Guernsey and Jersey.
The first match in Guernsey was shot at 300, 500 and 600 yards and CWO Southall achieved a perfect score of 150/150. This helped the team to win against the Guernsey rifle team.
In between competitions the team travelled to Sark which is a small island located off the coast of Guernsey where they enjoyed some rest and relaxation time taking in the local scenery.
The team then travelled to Jersey for the next leg of the tour. Whilst in Jersey the team upheld their high standards of shooting which resulted in them placing second overall to the Jersey rifle team but beating the Army team entrants.
CWO Southall is looking forward to her up and coming tour in Ohio in August where she will compete in the World Championships.
CWO Southall said, “I really enjoyed my first adult tour and pleased to have shot so well. This gives me confidence for the World Championships which I am very excited about.”
We wish CWO Southall all the best as she continues to go from strength to strength.
