Flight Lieutenant Nick Potter has retired from his post as Commanding Officer of 2534 (Fakenham) Squadron Air Training Corps (ATC).
Born in Chingford Flight Lieutenant Potter had his first taste of military life when he joined the Royal Corps of Transport as an officer cadet. Following this he took up civilian employment as an Biologist.
Having moved to Norfolk in 1974 he joined 2620 squadron Royal Auxiliary Air Force at RAF Marham leaving with the rank of Senior Aircraftsman in 2003. In the same year he joined 2534 (Fakenham) squadron.
Two years later he was promoted to Flight Lieutenant and appointed Squadron Commander. As well as being responsible for the squadron Flight Lieutenant Potter took an active part in ATC adventure training camps, camps on RAF Stations and shooting.
He will still support the squadron in a civilian capacity.
At his last parade Flight Lieutenant Potter was presented with some gifts from the staff and cadets and Wing Commander Dave Miller, Officer Commanding Norfolk & Suffolk Wing thanked him for all his hard work and dedication during his time with the squadron.
Flight Sergeant Emma Cuthell is the new Officer in Charge of the Fakenham squadron.
